What is weather?

Weather is how we describe the atmospheric conditions. Rain, fog, snow, wind, sunshine are all examples of how we describe our weather. We also use words like hot, cold, and mild to describe the temperature, which is also part of the weather.

How does the weather work?

Weather is how the sun acts on the water cycle here on earth. Around the equator, the sun is at its warmest because it shines down directly, but at the north and south poles it is much cooler. This difference in temperatures means that the heat from the sun acts differently on the planet in these places.
One major weather condition, and one of our favourites, is when the sun shines on the earth.

The Equator
It is an imaginary line that divides the earth into two equal halves, the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. It is halfway between the north and south poles.

How does the sun shining on earth make different weather conditions?

When the sun shines on areas of water on earth, clouds, fog and mist are produced through evaporation. Clouds can then block out the sun making it feel colder in the shade.

And what about rain?

Clouds are formed by water vapour being stuck together. When clouds cannot hold on to this vapour any longer, the vapour becomes water droplets and falls as rain, sleet, snow or hail.
