Each spent a day in the conservatory painting a flower, plant or foliage exhibit of their choice. The paintings were then judged by 3 well known local artists, Roddy McKenzie of the Electric Brae Gallery, Joan Lawson and Fiona Scott-Brown. P6/P7 Category – 1st place, Eva Doak from Troon Primary and 2nd place, Amelia Caldwell from St Patricks Primary, Troon. S1/S2 Category – 1st place, Zoe Stevenson and 2nd place, Shay Burns, both from Girvan Academy. S3 Category – 1st place, Olivia McManus and 2nd place, Mia Gallacher, both from Marr College The young artists are pictured with the three judges. Each is holding their completed entry. The 6 paintings can be viewed in the conservatory over the next couple of weeks as each will be displayed next to the corresponding plant or foliage. We are looking for a volunteer to take over the running of this weekly event from then. If you are interested please get in touch with Karen Watson on 07887 791210 Our Bedding Plant Sale continues and the event that was held last month raised £611. Quiz Night held this month at Cambusdoon Sports Club was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. The evening raised just over £300 for conservatory funds. Thanks to everyone who came along and the sports club for hosting. Our AGM was held on Thursday 13th June in the Conservatory. Attendees heard about progress and enjoyed nibbles and refreshments. Ayr Choral Union will be performing choral music out of doors and encouraging others to join in at Belleisle Conservatory on 21st June. Make Music day is a worldwide annual event that takes place on the same day. In the evening from 7-9pm Dalrymple Ukulele Orchestra will be performing https://makemusicday.co.uk Sunday Sessions in the Conservatory continues on the 23rd June - artistes will include the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra. July event will be held on the 14th. Come along 2-4pm. Events are free – a donation to Belleisle Conservatory is welcome. Day of the Honey Bee is an exciting day out for all the family- raising awareness of the plight of the Bee. Activities, Honey tasting, Educational Boards, meet the Bee-keepers and more. Come along and join in the fun on Sunday 7th July from noon until 4pm. Our Vice-Chairperson Jim Coubrough, and Events Co-ordinator Barrie Pert, have been looking at some new and exciting ways to develop our BCL Events Calendar. They have already come up with some new and enterprising ideas and are looking for more.
