![]() The vacancy for a Self Employed Plants Person (part-time) to work in the conservatory has been filled. We welcome Carol McColm who has enjoyed her first week at the conservatory. Last month BCL attended the Third Sector Market Place Showcase run by SAC in County Buildings. It was an opportunity to showcase our organisation and the benefits we make to the local community to an audience of elected members, community planning partners, council officers and others. Day of the Honey Bee, held this month, was an exciting day out for all the family raising awareness of the plight of the Honey Bee. Thanks to everyone who came along and enjoyed the day with us. A total of £412 was raised. Thank you to all the volunteers for baking and helping out on the day, including Jean from our local Co-op shop, 1st Alloway BB's, Belleisle Rangers, stallholders , Raymond Baxter for taking photographs and of course the Ayr and District Beekeepers Association. On Saturday 20th July, BCL will be taking part in Belleisle Rangers Summer Wildwood. The free, family friendly event will be held between 1 and 4pm in Belleisle Park. There will be marshmallow toasting, willow weaving, wood cookies, crafts, orienteering course, outdoor theatre with FIB and much more. At the conservatory there will be crafters, games, tea, coffee and home-baking will be available. Award winning children’s writer Raine Johnston has organised a unique opportunity for children aged 10-12 years to attend a Children’s Writing Workshop. Day 1 - Mon 22nd July, Day 2 - Mon 29th July 10am-12noon at the Stables, Belleisle Park. Cost is £15 per child email writerlorrainejohnston@gmail.com to book your place now. All proceeds will go to BCL funds. Connect at the Conservatory will be held on Friday 26th July at 10am. The free event can be booked through the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce website. Tickets are now on sale for a Gin Tasting evening to be held on Saturday 3rd August from 6.30-11pm in the Conservatory and the Stables, Belleisle Park. Sample 3 premium and 3 infused gins and enjoy a light finger buffet. Tickets £25 are limited and available from the conservatory or call Barrie Pert on 07767 273215 Sunday Sessions in the Conservatory continues on the 18th of August. Please come along 2-4pm. Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra will be amongst the performers. Events are free – a donation to Belleisle Conservatory is welcome.
